My longest ride to date, Bournemouth to Cheddar Gorge and back
Ok so it’s a long way to go in a day but it was definitely worth it for the Climb.
Cheddar Gorge full hill
if you’ve been before you’ll know what I mean and if you’ve never been you need to go, google the climb and views ( I forgot to take any photos) , I would definitely recommend it, you won’t be disappointed.
I only went easy up the climb, it’s about 3 and a half hours to get home so didn’t want to risk running out of energy just because I smashed the climb.
A big bag of flapjacks got me home (and some donuts 🤫), even had some energy left to round it up to 8hrs !
I definitely want to do this ride again.
I’ve done plenty off base miles over the winter and now I’m looking forward to getting back on the TT bike, It’s been a while. I’ve dusted it off and checked it over and I plan to test it out this weekend just to double check it’s all ok for next week. I’ve got two TT’s next week - Castle Combe10 and the P451/10 Open. A good chance to get used to the bike again and see how the legs are.
I’ll update the blog and let you know how I got on.
I hope to get entered into some road races soon, it’s definitely the thing I’ve missed the most. I had hoped to be over in Belgium by now training and racing with my other team but with further restrictions on international travel this hope seems to be moving further and further away.
There are events starting to go on British Cycling but I’m struggling to find something I can get a place at. They either seem to be too far away, fully booked (as the places have gone to the regions local riders) or National B which I’ve just found out I can’t do as a first year Junior if the distance is over 120km, I’m gutted about this! I’ve entered the South Region Test event so I’ve got my fingers crossed, it’s within my region but there’s only 45 places 🤞
