My first time racing Cicle Classic and I loved it, such a fun race. A lot of sketchy moments but still really fun. I was racing for the BC East Midlands Team, really thankful for the opportunity. There was a large field of 175 riders which made the positioning important when reaching the off road technical sections. After the first sector the race was split to pieces, and not long in a group of 10 or so were up the road and many riders also out the back being pulled. I chased on with a couple others, others later joined us. The gap was within a minute most of the time to the leaders so not to far. This was the longest race to date I’ve done, 180km and it was quite a hot day so getting the feeding right too was also very important.
Overall I was pleased with how the race went, the last hour was a bit frustrating with a few riders going up the road, coming back and going again, and I was in several of those moves but wasn’t in the right one at the right time to have a chance of a higher position, I definitely felt a top 10 was in reach and pleased with the feelings, I finished 23rd which I’m still happy with.
