The first half of the winter my training consisted of just base miles and gym sessions, something different it was the first time I’ve done regular gym sessions. I really enjoyed the gym but I just ended up putting on lots of muscles, feeling quite achy and not feeling that good on the bike.
I then got some help from Bourne Fit in Bournemouth who wrote me up a gym program to suit me along side the cycling training and I soon started to feel better and still had the energy and strength after the sessions for the bike training.
In mid January I was fortunate to get the offer of being coached, we discussed my race plans for the year and what sort of racing I enjoyed and where I wanted to do well. The training has been very different to what I’ve done before and I’m really enjoying it.
In February I got to go on my first training camp abroad. I went to Calpe with Cannibal Team and it was amazing. It was really good getting to know some of the new riders and we were really lucky with the weather. The best part was having nothing to do apart from ride my bike. I didn’t want to go back home, not only because of the weather but because it’s so much harder to fit in the training around 6th form and work.
I’m 7 weeks in to my my new Training and can really see the improvements starting to come.
My first race for 2022 is this weekend, the Primavera National B. Then the week after back to the same area but different course for the Hatherleigh Road Race which is the first round of the Junior National Road Series.
And then UCI 1.1 Guido Reybrouck on the 20th with Cannibal Team
